The Government of Grenada in partner with the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) hosted its first workshop on the Second Order Draft of the Grenada National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA) in September 2022.
The chapters focused on this workshop were Chapters 1 -4 these chapters looked at: (i) setting the scene for NEA, (ii) describing the status/trends/threats of ecosystems, (iii) ecosystems contribution to climate resilience, and (iv) valuation of genetic and ecosystem resources. The first workshop was held virtually over the course of two half-day sessions and was facilitated by each of the chapter’s Coordinating Lead Authors.
The second workshop will be held in 2023 and will focus on Chapters 5 and 6 which look at (i) opportunities exist to support, enhance and amplify the delivery of ecosystem services for the economic and social well-being of Grenadians and (ii) scenarios and pathways to a sustainable future.
The development of the NEA has utilised a strong participatory approach incorporating stakeholders from various sectors in the development of the assessment. As such, these workshops seek to gather stakeholder feedback on the select chapters and key findings of the Grenada NEA as well as to capture local knowledge and perspectives of stakeholders which will be incorporated into the chapters.
