Dr. Judlyn M. Telesford-Checkley is an Environmental Scientist born and raised in Grenada. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry & Biology at Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas; her Master’s degree in Environmental Science at West Texas A&M University, Canyon, Texas; and her PhD in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.
Dr. Telesford-Checkley spent numerous years studying the impacts of agro-chemicals on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and her PhD dissertation work focuses on Avian contribution of E. coli and nutrient loads to freshwater systems; her findings have been published in 3 peer-reviewed journals.
Her employment history involved teaching Chemistry, Biology, Wildlife & Fisheries Conservation and Animal Ecology, and working at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a Natural Resource Specialist focused on waste and water regulations.
Currently working as an Environmental Consultant in Grenada, Dr. Telesford-Checkley focuses on Climate Resilience/Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Environmental Management Systems. One of her current engagements is with Grenada’s Fisheries Division.
In her spare time, Dr. Telesford-Checkley enjoys gardening, cooking and curating natural hair and skin products.
