To support project uptake and use of ecosystem valuation information from the Grenada National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA), CANARI, between July 2022 and June 2024, executed a project on Capacity building and knowledge products to enhance the use and uptake of the National Ecosystem Assessment of the tri-island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

About the Project

The project was funded by the Global Environment Facility through the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (GEF-IWEco) Project implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), of which Grenada was one of ten participating countries.

Key activities and results

  • A workshop series was facilitated on communication of environmental information to support civil society in the use and promotion of information from the Grenada NEA based on mechanisms and techniques from CANARI’s advocacy toolkit and communication toolkit for Caribbean Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
  • A CSO/citizen’s guide to the NEA was developed to support widespread uptake of key messages and information that can be used to communicate with private sector, youth, policy makers and other stakeholders, regarding the value and importance of specific ecosystems and sites.
