Marilyn is the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Conservator of Forests at the Jamaica Forestry Department. She was the first female CEO and Conservator of Forests and with 23 years in the post, she is the longest-serving Conservator of Forests.
Marilyn led the transformation process of the Forestry Department to Executive Agency status in 2010. She also led the development of the Forest Policy 2017 and the second National Forest Management and Conservation Plan for Jamaica (2016-2026).
Her achievements have been widely recognised, and in 2014 she was conferred the Order of Distinction by Governor General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen. She also received the Gabriel Charles Award for her dedication and service to the island’s forests at the 16th Caribbean Foresters Meeting in 2013 and has also been featured in the Women of Jamaica publication.
She is a former Chair of CANARI’s Board and currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth Forestry Association.
