Women’s pivotal role in the environment celebrated by EMA –CANARI’s Executive Director among those honoured

Port of Spain, March 17, 2025 – Nicole Leotaud, Executive Director of the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), was among 30 remarkable women honoured by the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) on March 14, 2025, for their significant contributions to environmental conservation, protection and sustainability in Trinidad and Tobago.

The award ceremony was part of the EMA’s 30th anniversary celebrations and in recognition of International Women’s Day (March 8). EMA’s CEO, Hayden Romano, explained that the EMA recognised “…these accomplishments as part of International Women’s Day celebrations in order to acknowledge the challenges we still face, and to highlight women who ‘Accelerate Action’ to create a brighter, more sustainable future for all”.
