Making waves for blue tourism in Tobago

Port of Spain, October 15, 2025 – From September 30 to October 3, 2025, the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) hosted a four-day workshop titled “Strengthening community-based blue tourism in Tobago” under the Caribbean Blue Tourism Initiative (BTI), a regional programme that champions sustainable, community-led tourism across the Caribbean.

Twenty local participants, including fisherfolk, tour operators, youth, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and representatives from local government agencies participated in the workshop. They explored how marine conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable tourism can work together to strengthen Tobago’s blue economy.
