CANARI makes the case for a seat at the table on behalf of Caribbean civil society at the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Civil Society Engagement Forum

Port of Spain, 19 May 2025 – “If we are serious about building a more sustainable, just, and resilient future for SIDS, civil society must be fully recognised, incorporated and elevated as a key development partner—not as an afterthought or an add-on, but as a legitimate actor alongside governments, the private sector, and development partners.” This was the strong call to action delivered by Anna Cadiz-Hadeed, Acting Executive Director of the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), on behalf of fellow Caribbean civil society participants during the Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) Civil Society Engagement Forum held last week (12-13 May 2025) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
