The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) is hiring a Communications Officer. We are looking for a creative, strategic, socially conscious communicator who wants their work to matter.
For 35 years, CANARI has championed equity and justice, resilience, biodiversity, sustainable livelihoods and participatory governance across the Caribbean. Now, we are looking for someone who is excited to help amplify the impact of this great work.
What you will do
As CANARI’s Communications Officer, you will:
- Support the delivery of CANARI’s Communications Strategy
- Develop communication plans tailored to diverse audiences
- Create compelling multi-media content (articles, blogs, social media, posters, videos, podcasts)
- Manage and update CANARI’s website and knowledge platforms
- Strengthen media relationships and coordinate media releases
- Analyse communication effectiveness using online metrics
- Coordinate production of the Institute’s e-newsletter
- Support stakeholder engagement, content dissemination, and CANARI’s information
management systems - Help document, promote, and share our research and field work across the region
Who you are
You are someone who:
- Writes clearly, creatively and confidently
- Loves storytelling and translating technical content into accessible messages
- Understands social media and digital communication trends
- Can manage multiple tasks with excellence and attention to detail
- Thrives in a mission-driven, collaborative environment
- Wants to help shape a more just, resilient, sustainable Caribbean
- Has experience in website management, basic graphic design, and/or video editing
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications
- Experience working in the Caribbean
- Skills in copy editing and digital content creation
- Bonus: graphic design, video production, web development
