Description of the project:

From November 2017 to April 2018, CANARI will be implementing a technical assistance project to support the Sustainable Grenadines Inc. (SusGren) in developing a strategic plan that will guide the organisation’s activities over the next 5 years.

The strategic planning process is being undertaken as part of SusGren’s Global Environment Facility – Small Grant Program (GEF-SGP) funded “Building benefits for nature and people: strengthening non-governmental organisations for biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods” project.

Key results and activities

The technical assistance project is aimed at developing a strategic plan to guide SusGren’s activities over the next five years (2018‐2022) and building the capacity of the Board of Directors to contribute to SusGren’s mission.

These results will be achieved through the implementation of the following key activities:

  • Conduct desk review and interviews with staff/ Board to identify key stakeholders and conduct initial scoping of status, potential directions, situational analysis and SusGren capacity needs
  • Conduct meetings and interviews with key external stakeholders in the Grenadines’ islands to assess: 1) perceptions of most significant results achieved by SusGren; 2) situational analysis; and 3) priorities for SusGren moving forward
  • Facilitate two three-day strategic planning workshops with staff, Board and key external stakeholders
  • Facilitate one one-day capacity building workshop with SusGren’s Board of Directors
  • Support SusGren staff and Board with drafting strategic plan
