Venash Ramberan, Finance Officer
Venash Ramberan has been CANARI’s Finance Officer since January 2007. He is responsible for financial management, information technology and operational management at the Institute. Venash began his accounting career with a Caribbean conglomerate, ANSA McAl. During that time, he worked in several subsidiaries starting as a junior accounts clerk and progressing to senior management.
Having amassed a wealth of knowledge in the private sector, coupled with his academic qualifications, Venash is strongly focused on the success of the CANARI team. He ensures that CANARI sets and successfully meets its financial targets, particularly in reporting to the Institute’s donors. In collaboration with CANARI staff, he has developed over the years a unique financial management system that facilitates effective management of both large scale multi-country, multi-year projects and smaller scale short term technical assistance projects, while remaining responsive to changing external factors and internal needs. He key to ensuring that the technical staff has a working environment that supports creativity and efficiency.
Venash can be described as having a high work ethic and is always willing to support others. During his tenure at CANARI, Venash has developed strong commitment to CANARI’s stakeholders, particularly those from civil society and has shared with them his skills in financial management, including auditing and the establishment of financial systems.
Venash has a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK, 2007. He is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad & Tobago (ICATT).
