Candice Ramkissoon, Technical Officer
Candice Ramkissoon has a diverse science and technology background, offering approximately ten years’ practical experience and expertise in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Management; Environmental and Natural Resources Management; Health, Safety and Environment; and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Candice brings significant national and regional expertise in risk reduction and management, including risk and vulnerability assessments, GIS mapping and analysis, implementation of community-based early warning mechanisms, involvement in DRR and climate change related planning and policy making and delivery of DRR training and capacity building. She possesses specialist level skills in GIS.
Candice feels most energised doing meaningful work that helps both people and protection of the environment. She has special interest in exploring the linkages between risk reduction, environmental management and sustainable development and is passionate about promoting more ecosystem-based approaches to DRR and incorporating GIS to support this work.
Candice has an MSc in Geoinformatics, Department of Geomatics Engineering & Land Management, University of the West Indies, St Augustine, 2011; and a BSc in Environmental and Natural Resources Management (major) & Entrepreneurship (minor), University of the West Indies, St Augustine, 2006.
