Project partnerships

Powering Innovations in Civil Society and Enterprises for Sustainability in the Caribbean (PISCES) project.

CANARI is leading the implementation of this European Union-supported project (2017-2010) which aims to support civil society and micro and small enterprises (MSEs) to conserve marine and coastal biodiversity while developing sustainable and resilient livelihoods across 10 Caribbean countries.  Implementing partners include Caribbean Coastal Area Management Foundation (C-CAM), the Caribbean Network of Fisherfolk Organisations (CNFO), the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG), the Fondation pour la Protection de la Biodiversité Marine (FoProBiM), Sustainable Grenadines Inc (SusGren), and the Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT).

Catalysing Implementation of the Strategic Action Programme for the Sustainable Management of shared Living Marine Resources in the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems project (the CLME + Project).

CANARI is a co-executing partner under this five-year (2015-2020) United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/Global Environment Facility (GEF) project.  CANARI is  responsible for developing and implementing the Civil Society Action Programme (CLME+ C-SAP) as a framework for engagement of civil society and resource users as implementation partners in the politically endorsed regional programme.  We are also supporting United Nations Environment with development of the report on the State of Coral Reefs, Mangroves and Seagrasses as well as the Regional Strategic Action Programme on Coral Reefs, Mangroves and Seagrasses. Other co-executing Partners on the CLME+ project include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS), UWI CERMES, Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM), Western Central Atlantic Fisheries Commission (WECAFC), Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (IOCARIBE), OECS; the The Central American Fisheries and Aquaculture Organization (Organización del Sector Pesquero y Acuícola del Istmo Centroamericano or OSPESCA), and UN Environment Programme-Caribbean Environment Programme.
