The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute is collaborating with the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) of Antigua and Barbuda to conduct an ecosystem valuation training series and valuation exercise of two protected areas in Antigua and Barbuda. This work supports the wider Global Environment Facility funded “Path to 2020” Project managed by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Health and the Environment of Antigua and Barbuda. The “Path to 2020” Project in turn, furthers the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and protected areas in Antigua and Barbuda.
CANARI’s work will provide key Government and civil society stakeholders with a better understanding of ecosystem valuation and enhance their capacity to conduct related assessments. CANARI will also guide fieldwork for the valuation of two target sites and produce a valuation report which will feed into the development of management plans for these areas. See here for project summary.
