Tribute to an outstanding former CANARI Chairperson

The Partnership and staff of the Caribbean Natural Resources have received with profound sadness, news of the passing of Mrs. Patricia Charles.

When we learned of Pat's illness, we prayed for her miraculous recovery; but her passing has revealed to us the miracle we had all along through her imposing presence among us and her enduring contribution to CANARI during her tenure as an Elected Partner and former Chairperson.

Pat gave each of us special reasons to remember her. But we all will happily carry in our hearts a profound sense of gratitude for the many gifts she shared with us: her searing intellect; her soothing words of encouragement; her visionary leadership and her steadfast friendship.

Her selfless contributions to CANARI and to innumerable causes in her beloved Saint Lucia and her Caribbean speak eloquently and convincingly about who she was; what she cared about and what she will always be remembered for.

We pray that her family will draw justifiable pride and comfort from the model life she lived and the positive impact she created as wife, mother, grandmother, friend, developmentalist, environmentalist, cultural activist and regionalist.

And we pray too that her soul will rest in perpetual peace.
